Sometimes healing begins when the pieces finally come together.
You can be an adult and still carry the feelings of the child you once were. You may have built a successful life. You may have a family, a career, friendships and responsibilities. You may have spent years working on yourself. And still, something keeps coming back.
- The fear of being rejected.
- The feeling that you are never quite enough.
- The need to keep everyone happy.
- Difficulty trusting people.
- A strong need to stay in control.
- Anger that seems bigger than the situation.
- Relationships in which the same patterns repeat again and again.
- Or simply a feeling deep inside that something is missing.
Very often, these patterns did not start in adulthood. They were learned much earlier. And sometimes the next step is not learning how to cope with them better.
Sometimes it is finally understanding where they came from.
At Conscious Pharmacist, many of the people we support come to us carrying experiences from childhood that still influence their lives today.
For some, there was clear trauma. For others, it was much less obvious.
- A parent who was emotionally unavailable.
- Growing up around conflict.
- Never feeling fully safe.
- Having to be the strong one.
- Feeling responsible for the emotions of others.
- Not receiving the love, attention or protection you needed.
- Being told you were too sensitive.
- Learning to hide your emotions.
- Or growing up believing that love had to be earned.
These experiences can become part of the way we see ourselves. And because they often started before we could fully understand them, they can be incredibly difficult to change through thinking alone.
This is where a carefully supported psychedelic journey can sometimes open a very different door.

“I understand it. But I still feel it.”
This is something we hear often. Many people who come to us have already done a lot of work.
They have read books. They have been in therapy. They understand their childhood. They know their patterns. They may even be able to explain exactly why they behave the way they do. But understanding something with your mind is not always the same as feeling differently inside.
- You can know that your parents were emotionally unavailable and still feel unlovable.
- You can know that something that happened to you was not your fault and still carry shame.
- You can understand why you became a people-pleaser and still find yourself unable to say no.
- You can know that you are safe today and still live as if danger is around every corner.
Sometimes there is another layer that needs attention. Not only the story. The feeling underneath the story.

When the puzzle finally starts to make sense
One of the most powerful things we see during private psychedelic therapy work is how different parts of a person’s life can suddenly become connected.
Something that has been confusing for twenty, thirty or even fifty years can begin to make sense.
- Why do I react so strongly when somebody leaves?
- Why do I always choose emotionally unavailable partners?
- Why am I terrified of disappointing people?
- Why can I achieve so much and still never feel good enough?
- Why do I find it so difficult to receive love?
- Why do I always have to be in control?
- Why am I so hard on myself?
During a deep psychedelic journey, people may revisit memories, emotions, relationships or moments from their past.
Sometimes forgotten memories come closer. Sometimes it is not one specific memory at all, but a deep understanding of what childhood felt like. And suddenly, pieces that seemed unrelated can form one picture.
One of our clients described how her ceremony “brought back childhood memories” that she had not been able to reach before. Another spoke about beginning to “find my way back to myself.”
That is often where something important begins. Not because the past disappears. But because the past finally makes sense.

You may begin to see your younger self differently
Childhood trauma can create very deep beliefs.
- A child rarely thinks: “My mother is emotionally unavailable because of her own unresolved experiences.”
- A child thinks: “Maybe I am not worth loving.”
- A child rarely thinks: “My father cannot regulate his emotions.”
- A child thinks: “I need to behave differently so that everything stays calm.”
A child does not understand neglect, attachment, trauma or nervous-system responses. A child adapts. And those adaptations can become adult patterns.
- Maybe you became extremely independent.
- Maybe you stopped asking for help.
- Maybe you learned to take care of everybody except yourself.
- Maybe you became a perfectionist. Maybe you stopped showing sadness.
- Maybe you became hyper-aware of other people’s moods.
- Maybe you learned that keeping the peace was more important than expressing what you needed.
These strategies may once have protected you. But decades later, they may also be the same strategies that keep you from feeling free.
A psychedelic experience can sometimes allow you to look at that younger version of yourself with completely different eyes. Not with judgement. With compassion.
You may finally understand: There was never anything wrong with that child.
They were adapting to what was happening around them. For some people, this realisation is profoundly emotional.
Sometimes the healing is in finally allowing yourself to feel
There is another part of childhood trauma that cannot always be solved by understanding it.
Grief. The grief for what happened. But also the grief for what did not happen.
- The childhood you should have had.
- The parent you needed.
- The safety you deserved.
- The words you never heard.
- The protection you did not receive.
- The love you spent years trying to earn.
These feelings can stay buried for a very long time.
Many adults become extremely good at functioning. They work. They care for others. They achieve. They smile. They keep going. But somewhere underneath, the sadness is still there.
A psychedelic ceremony can sometimes bring these emotions much closer.
There may be tears. There may be anger. There may be enormous sadness. There can also be relief. Love. Forgiveness. Acceptance. Or simply the experience of finally allowing yourself to feel something that has been held inside for decades.
Our role is not to tell you what you should feel. Our role is to create a space in which you feel safe enough to meet whatever comes.

Why we often prefer private ceremonies when working with childhood trauma
There are beautiful benefits to our luxurious small group retreats, such as our Inner Leadership Retreat or Goddess Awakening Retreat.
But when somebody carries deep childhood experiences, we often see enormous value in private work. Because this journey is yours. There is no group around you. There is nobody you need to consider. There is nobody watching. You do not need to explain yourself. You do not need to be strong. You do not have to take care of anyone else.
For one day, you are allowed to be the person being cared for.
And for some people, that alone is deeply meaningful. In a private ceremony, we can get to know you before the experience.
- Your story.
- Your fears.
- Your relationships.
- Your patterns.
- The things you want to understand.
- And the things you may not yet have words for.
During the fully private and personalised journey, we stay close when you need closeness and give you space when you need space.
One client described feeling “deeply held, listened to, and supported.” Another said our approach helped her feel “safe and trust the process.”
That feeling of safety matters. Because letting go is difficult when you are still protecting yourself.

This is not something we do to you
This distinction is important to us.
We do not see you as a diagnosis. We do not see you as a “trauma patient”. And we do not believe that you come to the sunny Algarve in Portugal, take psilocybin and magically become a different person.
- We build a relationship with you.
- We listen.
- We learn your story.
- We prepare together.
- We experience the journey with you.
- We talk afterwards.
- We stay connected.
- And very often, that relationship develops over weeks or months.
Some of our clients start with our microdosing coaching therapy. Others come directly for a private ceremony. Some return for a second ceremony. Some continue with coaching or psychological support.
And some stay connected to us long after their formal programme has finished. That is not an extra part of our work. That is the work!
Because people open parts of themselves during these journeys that they may never have shared before. That deserves more than a ceremony and a goodbye.

Why one ceremony can create clarity, and why two can sometimes create deeper change
We never believe that more psilocybin ceremonies are automatically better. But with childhood trauma, we often see a natural process.
The first psychedelic ceremony can help you understand.
- It may show you where certain patterns began.
- It may bring memories or emotions to the surface.
- It may help you see your parents differently.
- It may show you why you have spent your life trying to be strong.
- It may help you understand your anxiety, anger, relationships or fears.
Sometimes people finish this first experience feeling as though they have finally found pieces of a puzzle they have been looking for all their lives. And then comes integration.
We talk. We reflect. We look at what the experience may mean. We connect it to your life today. And something starts to move.
A second psychedelic ceremony can then begin from a completely different place.
- You know more.
- You understand more.
- You trust the process more.
- And very often, you trust yourself more.
The second psychedelic experience may allow another layer to emerge.
For some people, the first ceremony is about understanding.
The second becomes more about releasing, accepting, forgiving or choosing differently.
This is not a formula. Every person is different.
But for people carrying deeper or more complex childhood trauma, two private ceremonies with integration support between them can sometimes create a much more complete process than one isolated experience. Afterwards we provide 12 weeks of ongoing intergration support and professional coaching to maximize the impact of the two ceremonies.

The ceremony can show you the door. Integration helps you walk through it.
This may be the most important part of our proven approach.
A psychedelic experience can be extraordinary.
- You may understand things about yourself that you have never understood before.
- You may experience enormous love.
- You may cry more deeply than you have cried in years.
- You may feel connected to yourself again.
But then you go home. And real life starts again.
Your partner says something that triggers you. Your mother calls. Someone disappoints you. You feel rejected. Your old fear appears. You automatically say yes when you want to say no. This is where the real work begins. Because insight is beautiful!
But insight needs to become action.
- If you realise that you have spent forty years believing you need to please everybody to be loved, what will you do differently tomorrow?
- If you understand why rejection terrifies you, how will you respond the next time somebody pulls away?
- If you finally feel compassion for your younger self, can you learn to speak to yourself with that same compassion?
- If you realise that a relationship is repeating something from childhood, are you ready to make a different choice?
This is why integration and coaching are not an afterthought for us. They are an essential part of the journey.

We help you make sense of what happened
After one of our psychedelic ceremonies, there can be a lot to process.
Some insights are immediately clear. Others take days or weeks to understand.
This is where having somebody who knows you, knows your story and understands your experience can be incredibly valuable.
Together we can look at:
- What did you experience?
- What emotions came up?
- What did you understand about your childhood?
- Which patterns became visible?
- What surprised you?
- What still feels confusing?
- What does this mean for the relationships in your life today?
- What are you ready to let go of?
- What needs more love?
- What needs a boundary?
- What needs action?
- And what simply needs time?
- This is where psychedelic therapy becomes much more than a psychedelic experience.
It becomes a process of positive change.

A relationship, not a transaction
Perhaps this is one of the biggest differences in how Conscious Pharmacist has evolved while helping many people from around the world.
We have learned that people do not only need expertise.
- They need somebody they can trust.
- Somebody who remembers their story.
- Somebody they can call when things feel difficult.
- Somebody who celebrates their progress.
- Somebody who can say, “I remember where you were three months ago. Look at where you are now.”
Our clients often become people we know very well.
- We see their fear before their first experience.
- We see them open.
- We see them struggle.
- We see them make difficult choices.
- We see relationships change.
- We see confidence grow.
- And sometimes we see somebody slowly become the person they always felt was somewhere inside them.
One of our clients described our support as kindness and understanding from the first conversation onwards. Another wrote that working together had become much more than a ceremony and described the connection as deeply personal and trusting.
That means a lot to us. Because this is exactly what we want Conscious Pharmacist to be.
Not simply somewhere you come for psychedelic therapy. But somewhere you feel seen, safe, supported, loved and understood.
What if my childhood “wasn’t bad enough” to call it trauma?
We hear this more often than you might think.
- “My parents loved me.”
- “Other people had it much worse.”
- “I wasn’t abused.”
- “I had a roof over my head.”
- “I shouldn’t complain.”
Trauma is not a competition. And it is not always one dramatic event.
Sometimes it is the repeated experience of not feeling emotionally safe.
- Not being seen.
- Not being comforted.
- Having unpredictable parents.
- Growing up around addiction or conflict.
- Always needing to perform.
- Being bullied.
- Losing somebody.
- Having to become independent too early.
- Living with a sick parent.
- Feeling different.
- Or repeatedly receiving the message — directly or indirectly — that your feelings were too much.
You do not have to prove that your childhood was “bad enough”.
A better question may be: Is something from my past still influencing the way I live today?
If the answer is yes, it deserves attention.

What does healing actually mean?
Nobody can give you a different childhood. You may still remember what happened. You may still feel sadness when you think about it. You may never receive the apology you deserved. Your parents may never fully understand your experience.
Healing can mean something else.
- Remembering without being pulled back into the same pain.
- Understanding yourself instead of judging yourself.
- Recognising a trigger without letting it control your behaviour.
- Setting a boundary without feeling unbearable guilt.
- Allowing somebody to love you without constantly expecting them to leave.
- Feeling safe enough to be vulnerable.
- Being able to say no.
- Being able to ask for help.
- And perhaps most importantly: No longer living your adult life according to rules you created as a frightened child.
“I came here hoping to heal.”
The people who come to us are often not looking for a psychedelic experience.
- They are looking for change. They want peace. Clarity. Connection. Freedom.
- They want to understand themselves.
- They want to stop repeating the same patterns.
- They want to feel again.
- They want their relationships to become healthier.
- They want their life back.
Some arrive nervous. Some arrive exhausted. Some have almost lost hope that anything can really change.
We never promise a miracle. No responsible practitioner should.
But we have seen enough to know how meaningful these journeys can become when the right person is given the right support, in the right environment, at the right moment in their life.
One client summed up her journey in words that have stayed with us: “I came here hoping to heal.”
For us, that is what this work is ultimately about. Not the psychedelic. Not the ceremony. The person!

Is this the right journey for you?
Psychedelic-assisted work is not appropriate for everyone.
Before we work together, we want to understand you.
- Your health.
- Your medication.
- Your mental health history.
- Your previous experiences.
- Your fears.
- Your intentions.
- And what is happening in your life now.
Sometimes we recommend starting with microdosing and coaching.
Sometimes a private high-dose ceremony feels like the appropriate next step.
Sometimes we recommend two private ceremonies with integration between them.
Sometimes we recommend our Maximum Impact Program, which includes two psychedelic ceremonies followed by our microdosing therapy and 12 weeks of integration support and professional coaching.
And sometimes we advise someone not to proceed.
There is no one-size-fits-all programme.
We want to find the path that makes sense for YOU!

Maybe you do not need to become someone new
Sometimes people come to us wanting to fix themselves.
They believe something inside them is wrong. They want to become stronger. Less emotional. Less afraid. More confident. More successful. And sometimes the journey shows them something completely different.
That healing is not always about becoming somebody new. Sometimes it is about removing layer after layer of fear, protection and old beliefs until you can finally reconnect with the person underneath.
- The person who was there all along.
- The part of you that existed before you learned you had to hide.
- Before you learned to please.
- Before you learned not to trust.
- Before you decided you were not enough.
Perhaps that is why one sentence from our client stories captures this work so beautifully:
The journey can become a way back to yourself.
You do not have to carry your past in the same way forever
If you recognise yourself in this article, you do not need to decide today whether a psychedelic ceremony is right for you.
Start with a conversation. Tell us your story. Tell us what you have already tried. Tell us what keeps coming back. Tell us what you would like to change. And ask every question you have.
We will listen.
And together we can explore whether a private psychedelic journey, microdosing, coaching, integration or another form of support might be the right next step for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can psychedelic therapy help with childhood trauma?
For some people, a supported psychedelic experience can create new insights into childhood experiences, emotional patterns and relationships. It may also help people access emotions that have been difficult to reach through thinking or talking alone. It is not a guaranteed cure, and the quality of preparation, setting, support and integration is very important.
Why do childhood experiences still affect me as an adult?
Children develop ways of adapting to their environment. These can include pleasing others, staying in control, hiding emotions, becoming very independent or avoiding conflict. These patterns may have once helped you feel safe, but they can continue into adulthood even when they are no longer helpful.
Why do you recommend private ceremonies for childhood trauma?
Childhood experiences can be extremely personal. A private setting offers complete attention, privacy and space. You do not need to consider a group or anybody else’s journey. We can also shape your preparation, guidance and integration around your individual story.
Will I remember forgotten childhood experiences?
Memories, emotions and images connected to childhood can sometimes come up during psychedelic experiences. However, anything experienced in an altered state should be approached carefully. A memory or image should not automatically be treated as a completely accurate historical record. Our focus is primarily on what the experience means to you and how it connects with your feelings and patterns today.
Is one ceremony enough?
Sometimes one ceremony can create a major shift or important insight. For deeper or long-standing patterns, we may recommend a second ceremony after a period of integration. There is no standard number. We decide this individually together with you.
Why is integration so important?
A psychedelic experience may show you something important, but you still need to bring that insight into everyday life. Integration helps you understand the experience and translate it into boundaries, choices, habits, communication, relationships and a different way of treating yourself.
What happens if difficult emotions come up?
Difficult emotions can be part of psychedelic work. This is one reason why we place so much value on preparation, trust and one-to-one support. You are not expected to go through difficult moments alone.
Will I have support after the retreat?
Yes. Continued support is an important part of the way we work. Depending on your programme, this can include integration, coaching, psychological support, microdosing guidance and follow-up conversations.
Can I participate if I use antidepressants or other medication?
This needs to be assessed individually. Some medicines can influence psychedelic experiences or create safety concerns. Never stop or reduce prescribed medication by yourself to participate. Your medication and health history should be discussed before any psychedelic work.
Do I need to have severe trauma to work with you?
No. Many people do not identify with the word trauma at all. You may simply recognise that experiences from your childhood still influence your emotions, relationships, self-esteem or behaviour today. We can explore this without needing to put a label on your experience.

You do not need to know whether psilocybin microdosing, a professionally guided private psilocybin experience, medication tapering support or a longer combined approach is right for you. And you do not need to arrive with the perfect intention.
The first step can simply be a free and confidential conversation.
At Conscious Pharmacist, we look at the person before the program: your story, your health, your medication, your experiences, where you feel stuck and what you hope might become possible. From there, we can explore whether and how we may be able to support you.
Not to turn you into somebody else. But perhaps to help you discover what becomes possible when you experience yourself differently.
